The Short Version

This site uses Google Analytics to understand how people use it. That's it. No ads, no tracking pixels, no data brokers, no dark patterns. You can decline cookies when you visit and nothing changes except we won't know you were here.

What We Collect

If you accept cookies, Google Analytics collects:

• Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
• Approximate geographic location (country/city level, not your address)
• Device type, browser, and screen size
• How you arrived at the site (search engine, direct link, etc.)

This data is anonymised and aggregated. We cannot identify you personally from it.

Cookies Used

If you accept analytics, the following cookies are set by Google Analytics:

• _ga — Distinguishes unique visitors. Expires after 2 years.
• _ga_* — Maintains session state. Expires after 2 years.

We also store a hornery_consent value in your browser's localStorage to remember whether you accepted or declined cookies. This is not a cookie and contains no personal data.

Guestbook

If you sign the guestbook on the Cool Links page, we store your chosen display name, your message, and the date. We also temporarily log your IP address for rate-limiting purposes (to prevent spam). IP addresses are not stored permanently or shared with anyone.

Data Processing

Analytics data is processed by Google LLC under their privacy policy. Data may be processed in the United States. The Hornery does not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to any other third parties.

How to Opt Out

You can decline cookies when the consent banner appears on your first visit. If you previously accepted and want to opt out, clear your browser's localStorage for this site, or use a browser extension like Google Analytics Opt-out.

Your Rights

Under GDPR and similar regulations, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold. Since we don't collect personal data beyond anonymised analytics (and optional guestbook entries), there's not much to request — but if you have concerns, the best route is via the links on the About page.

If this policy changes, it'll be updated here. No email notifications because we don't have your email. Last updated: March 2026.
